While Gray Treefrogs (Hyla versicolor) are sometimes found crossing the road on Big Night, they are not part of this mass migration. They breed later in the year at ponds that hold water all year or most of the year. Like their name suggests, Gray Treefrogs spend most of their time up in trees. Their sticky toe pads act like suction cups to allow them to climb trees, leaves, and even glass. While we would never really expect treefrogs to be friends with a Barred Owl (Strix varia), they might spend time sleeping the day away in the same tree.
