Vernal Pools for Me – Week 10 – Marbled Salamanders
A Web Comic – by Laura Bollert with Kris Hoffmann
Meet Amber the Spotted Salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum)! This little salamander has a lot of growing to do before she can metamorph and leave the vernal pool. Her first adventure is learning about another species and potential predator. Marble salamanders (Ambystoma opacum) are fall breeders, so their larvae have a head start. They are found from Southern New Hampshire to Texas.
